CALOOSA WINNIES

February 2014 outing

February 1 – 4, 2014, the Caloosa Winnies met at Lazy Days Campground in Seffner, FL for a Superbowl weekend celebration.  Co-Hosts for the weekend were Chris & Bob Ross, David Nobert & Janice Cummings. 17 members, and 2 guests met on Saturday at 4:00pm for our first Happy Hour. At 5:00pm we all caravanned to Golden Corral for a buffet dinner and many options for food choices – it was a great meal.

Sunday morning was our Potluck Breakfast at 8:30am with lots of GREAT choices thanks to our wonderful cooks! Most of the day was free time for exploring the area attractions and spending time just visiting with each other. The Superbowl party began at 5:00pm with Jerry Miller taking bets in a pool for fun expectations on the teams.  Everyone brought dishes to share as the events unfolded on the big screen TV. It was a lively atmosphere as the game got underway. Everyone was rooting for their favorite team as we held our Ice Cream Social.  Soon it was over and the winners of each quarter were announced.

Monday morning we all took advantage of the breakfast offered by Lazy Days Sales Center.  At 10:00am it was time for the business meeting. David conducted the business at 10:00am and concluded by 10:35am.  After lunch there was a movie shown on the big screen TV, “The Jazz Singer”  starring Neil Diamond, Lucie Arnaz and Sir Lawrence Olivier. Popcorn was snacked on as we watched the story and the beautiful music unfold.

At 4:00pm Happy Hour commenced with free wine & beer offered to everyone. At 5:30pm the Pizza Party was officially started with the arrival of Papa John’s Pizza! After that was polished off, Chris Ross had some games and everyone participated in the fun! THANKS to Chris for the work organizing the activities!

Tuesday morning we had our usual donuts and bagels for breakfast before we all departed until our next meeting at the Florida State Winnie Gators Rally March 20 – 23 at the Central Florida Fairgrounds in Orlando.
